This was one of a few VHS tapes in a series that Tim Arnold videotaped at the storage area of his house, which as you may know, has one of the largest pinball machine collections in the world.  Originally taped in the winter of 1997 and issued on VHS, this 2 dvd set starts with a rare Bally Crosswords bingo. Tim demonstrates how this game works.  Only 500 were made and only a few of these are still believed to be in existence.  Next is Miss America Deluxe, explaining features such as the red letter game, magic lines, and lit rollovers.

Next Tim discusses game numbers and how to spot them on your pinball machine and even how to trace back model numbers from buying used plastics.  After that, Tim discusses various Gottlieb pinball machines, including Flying Carpet, Buccaneer, including the Spin and Spot feature.  Next it’s an Alvin G. pin, Punchy The Clown with Tim discussing the switch flipper. After that, it’s Royal Guard with the shifting snap targets. Tim also discusses grounding a game properly. Tim then reviews a more recent Gottlieb, Spring Break and then a Williams’ Whirlwind, briefly discussing swapping parts from one playfield to another, then it’s a review of a 1948 Williams’ Yanks pin with a running base unit and discusses interesting information about an original Harry Williams’ Yanks drawing. To conclude part 1, Tim talks about a rare Genco Motorama, the last game that Genco ever made and even discusses how the car works and such oddities as cabinet ducktail joints, then it’s a brief look at a Bally 1984 video/pinball hybrid, Granny and The Gators.

Part 2 goes into detail of what could be a one or two or maybe three of a kind Gottlieb TKO which Tim built from a backglass and a playfield.  I saw this pin at The Pinball Hall of Fame while I covered The Pinball Fantasy 10th anniversary show, and it is truly awesome. Check out the unique wiring job Tim did for this game.  I repeat, he pretty much built this pin from scratch from the original blueprints.  Next, Tim shows off an Alvin G. World Tour and a rare Gottlieb Strange World, one of the last Gottlieb electromechanicals ever made.  Tim next shows off a very rare, very weird game, Rat Race.  Next Tim shows off a Gottlieb Rack Em Up, then an Alvin G. Pistol Poker, and then an obscure mid 60’s Bally Dixieland, designed by the legendary Ted Zale.  Tim concludes this awesome tape with a shot from his mountain of bowling balls with some obscure pinball commercials and a cartoon!

The source for this dvd set was a VHS copy I bought from Tim years ago, but played only once since I made a backup VHS and played that instead.  Tim’s original tape is worn away from so many sales, so this is the next best thing.  So, pitch those worn VHS tapes and enjoy this dvd set!
