The York Show 2006

The 10th Anniversary!

Paragon, an early solid state classic, featuring artwork by Paul Faris, was quite a hit at The York Show this year.  Notice the credit button on the left though.  Whoever did this, bad!  If you have a solid state pin at a show, simply open the coin door, hit the coin switch wire several times until there are a bunch of credits on it, OR, like the Lost World pin at York a few years ago which I bought, adjust the dip switch settings so the game pops a credit at every 10,000 or so.  My Lost World pin had a doorbell button at the exact location of this game, and right on the woman's nose, which ruins the art.

"The Jukebox Don" from MD was here, like every year.  He had two jukes, this one and a 70's vintage Rockola juke.  The James Bond pin on the right had some technical difficulties.

If this game is at the upcoming York Show, it might be coming home with me.  This New World pin got played quite frequently.

So, the next day, here on rt. 30 West, we see Hooters is back in business! Here's what it looked like in 2005 after the building was struck by lightning and suffered fire damage.

"Mr. Amusement," as I mentioned, has quite a variety of stuff for your gameroom, and always has a couple of slots on tokens to keep the kiddies busy. These are known as Pachislos. In 2004, I bought from "Mr. Amusement," a cool "Mr. Gang" Pachislo slot, complete with dot matrix animation. But after that, I found collectors with Betty Boop which plays cartoons on a mini screen!    If I ever have the space, add that to my shopping list.

"M & P Amusement" brings an entire row of pins to the show every year.  They are conveniently located just a few blocks from the fairgrounds on West Market Street.

This year the Rileys brought a one of a kind cocktail pin, which definitely takes the prize for most unique pinball machine.

This is an Eight Ball Deluxe cocktail pinball machine.  I couldn't believe it, but I have this thing documented on video to prove it exists and these photos are legit.  This has actual Eight Ball Deluxe sounds just like the original, in line drop targets, need I say more.

Later at Allentown, George Riley gave me the details behind this oddity.  Notice the playfield tray says "Game Plan."  This used to be a 1979 Star Trip pin, one of which was at Allentown this past year.  Check out the flyer for this. Look at the excited people, including a hot cocktail waitress!:)  Anyway, Todd Tuckey of "TNT Amusements" bought this and later sold it.  I asked him to plug it back in as he was getting ready to leave, so I could see this game in action.  I cannot imagine how many hours went into converting this pin into something totally different.

"Mr. Amusement" had a little bit of everything for sale.

...including stuff for the kids.

Don't forget the neon!
